According to news reports, dozens of Western diplomats – and those from Jordan – walked out of the conference room as soon as Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad began attacking Israel, labeling Israel “most cruel and racist regime”, conveniently forgetting in Israel you will not get stoned to death if you are a rape victim.

The delegates rose in unison as the Iranian president began attacking Israel as a racist nation. Ahmadinejad accused Israel of being the “most cruel and racist regime.”

In all the delegates of 23 nations left the hall in protest – including Jordan and the European Union. UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon remained in his seat.

I would not expect any different behavior from UN chief. To be honest, Moon had no other choice. UN organized the event and Iran is a member. Yet, if I would be in Moon’s position, I would rather give up my seat than to have to sit through the speech.

It was not all, however. Preceding this incident, a clown tried to protest Ahmadinejad’s speech. Yes, you read correctly:

Ahmadinejad’s address was first interrupted before it even began, as a single protestor wearing a colorful clown wig rose from his seat and began yelling “racist!” at the president. He was removed from the scene by security personnel.

What I did not expect, is the accompanying effect to this incident:

The audience in the hall broke out in applause as he was taken out, and Ahmadinejad asked those present to forgive “these ignorant people.”

Of course you are ignorant, if you do not deny Holocaust.

ban ki moon should not have allowed this circus to happen. It was not good for anything. I can’t believe he let Ahmadenejad give a speech given his trackrecord with regard to antisemitical statements.
