UN condemns Israel, forgets terror

THE UNITED NATIONS published a report, according to which Israel intentionally fired at UN facilities during Cast Lead operation. The report – harshly attacking Israel for its attacks – conveniently forgets Hamas’ use of UN facilities, as well as its attacks against civilian population in sovereign Israeli territory.

While the report is being perceived in Israel as harsh, according to news reports the published version was ‘softened down’ by UN SecGen Ban Ki Moon.

Israeli Foreign Ministry attacked UN back, claiming the report as “unbalanced, biased and oblivious to the facts… It completely ignored the facts presented to the UN committee, which has clearly sided with Hamas – a murderous terror group – and is therefore misleading the international public”.

According to FM, Israeli authorities supplied UN investigators with full access to “intelligence reports, video footage, aerial photographs, testimonials etc., none of which [surprisingly! – JMB] found their way to the final report”.

As the central UN agency in Gaza (the UNRWA) closely cooperates with Hamas (including use of UN facilities for terror-related activity), it is unclear how such an investigation could be seen as impartial – impartiality being the main goal of the United Nations. Moreover, according to reports, UNRWA officials suspect many Hamas activists on UN payroll – and have no problem with it. According to Peter Hansen – ComGen of UNRWA:

I am sure that there are Hamas members on the UNRWA payroll and I don’t see that as a crime… we do not do political vetting and exclude people from one persuasion as against another.

How nice. Being affiliated with genocidal terror group is now considered ‘politics’ by UNRWA officials.

UNRWA, the over-staffed wing of UN, done its best to keep Palestinians in poverty and misery. United Nations Relief and Works Agency – initially created as a three-year project to support Palestinian refugees, survived for sixty years, effectively misusing its resources, failing to create stable infrastructure for Palestinians living in dense refugee camps.

Remember: if there is one organization in the world, that has no right to criticize Israel, it is the UN, which failed time after time to prevent genocides all around the world, in which millions perished. Instead of concentrating on Darfur, where fatality count could reach 500,000 any moment now, UN investigates 1,300 Palestinian fatalities – at least half of them terrorists – with vigor, dismissing the need to criticize PA’s Mahmoud Abbas for his support of Sudanese President Bashir, who allegedly participates in Darfur massacres.
