Syria uses excuses to withdraw from peace negotiations

Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem

IN A REACTION to Israeli PM’s offer to renew negotiations with Syria, latter’s Foreign Minister – Walid al-Muallem, said there would be “no point” in recommencing such talks without Israel agreeing to Syria’s precondition of withdrawing from the Golan Heights.

"Negotiations will be futile if there is no true Israeli will to make peace and no US involvement. We will not go back to wasting time," he told Syrian state television.

By not wasting time Muallem obviously means continuation of Syrian support for various terrorist organizations, such as Lebanon’s Hizb Allah and Gaza’s Hamas.

Regrettably, populations of both Lebanon and Gaza fail to see the negative influence stemming from Syria. In 2006, Hizb Allah’s war with Israel brought over 1,100 civilians deaths and several time more wounded, causing much destruction in Lebanon. In 2008-2009, Hamas’ war with Israel left over 1,400 dead. People of Lebanon and Gaza – brainwashed daily by proxies of Iran – cannot (and in some cases, would not) see the real state of affairs, where Syria’s non-stop transfer of funds and arms to radical elements brings destruction and chaos on their people.

People of Gaza and Lebanon – and many other states, for that matter – see Israel as their enemy. Yet, it is until they realize that the enemy lies within, is when they will have the chance to live truly happy and prosperous life.
