Lebanese MP says HizbAllah masses arms

HizbAllah militants in a parade through Beirut In a… not really surprising turn of events, Lebanese Parliament Member Hassan Fadlallah told as-Sapir daily the terror group to which he belongs would “secure all the arms of resistance that we can”:

Fadlallah was hitting back at a statement by U.S. Secretary of Defence Robert Gates on Tuesday accusing Iran and Syria of arming Hezbollah with increasingly sophisticated rockets and missiles, which he said undermined stability in the region.

"There is a big difference between arms which only serve invasions, occupations and aggressions, such as those of the United States and its ally Israel … and the arms of a resistance which defends, protects, and liberates," Fadlallah said.

HIZBALLAH’S RHETORIC HAS little effect on the West, which believes Hassan Nasrallah would seek an excuse to renew armed campaign against Israel. In 2006 it was easier for HizbAllah to provoke Israel into fighting; today such an attempt would be harder, as Nasrallah would face harsh criticism from his opponents and Lebanon’s population. Still, such an attack cannot be discounted and is precisely the reason for IDF keeping on high alert in the north.
